Hi Experts,
I am new to SAP Business Objects.
We have the Business Objects platform 4.0 running on a Windows server. Now I need to develop a dashboard with data from a SQL Server 2012 SP1, which is running on an another Windows server. We also have a Share point environment. I would like to distribute the dashboard by email or share point.
Dashboards come with a lot of connection options. This is what I figured out:
A. XML connection -> With this option,I need to sent the XML file withthe dashboardfile when I distribute by mail (which is not the most beautiful option I guess) The .SWF file is in live connection with the XML file
B. Web Service connection -> With this option I need to run a SOAP Web Service Task on a IIS Web server. The .SWF file is in live connection with the Web Service
C. Query Browser -> With this option I need to make an universe on top of my SQL database with the information builder. The .SWF file is in live connection with the SAP Server
My questions:
1. Is the above A,B & C options well described (please mention if not)?
2. Do I have other options then A,B & C?
3. I did read something about SAP Data Integrator. Can I make a secure web service with Data Integrator instead of IIS?
4. Which connection option do I need for an integration with share point?
5. Which connection do you, experts, recommend?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Bart
