BO dashboards 4.1 compatible with BO server 4.0

We have the BO server 4.0 running(also the mobile server).

At this point I need to develop a Dashboard thats is/has:

- Compatible on the Ipad

- Live data connection with a SQL server 2012 SP1

My questions:

1) is Dashboards 4.1 compatible with the BO server 4.0?

2) which options of connection do I have? I found the following text in http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir4/en/44x_mobiOS_admin_en.pdf :

"Model connectivity

If the model is running in offline mode, or if the mobile device has no network connection, all connections in the

model will be disabled and will use cached data.

Note: Only connections added from the Query Browser are supported. Connections added through the Data Manager are unsupported."

Query Browser means that I first need to make a connection from the SQL server to the Universe?

(Just beginning. Its very hard to make a decision of the many connection options.)
