Can I create a universe on top of HANA attribute view?

Due to some performance issue, my clients are asking us to move all Calculation views(Dimension type) to attribute views. As I am new to both HANA and BO, I just wanted to know the below things:

1. How the performance of Calculation views(Dimension type) and attribute views compares to each other.
2. In what case such changes are advice-able.
3. Will I be able to use the attribute views for creating universe. If yes, can I create multiple attribute views and join them in Universe.
