Hello, I have a question. I have a dashboard which was working okay in QA environment. I published it to production and it now giving me errors like this:
Characteristic 00O8THF5HTUTY388WBYYS77UG cannot be applied to the COLUMNS since it is not available.
This is not through BICS connection. it is thorugh regular BW connections.
How can i know which characteristic is missing?

I have a very large dashboard I am trying to seperate into parent and child dashboards to improve performance.
We have just upgraded to 4.0 SP5 (Product: 14.0.5) and the Dashboard Designer doesn't have the option to Export Settings for FlashVariables.
Is there a way to pass the open doc call for a dashboard as the variable to open a dashboard within another dashboard?
Hi Experts,
I have one dashboard in which I have used Qaaws & Query Browser connections.
Qaaws is working fine but Query browser connection is not working, I found one error is coming in IE Request processing failed (xls 000009)
and if same dashboard is opened in chrome then is showingTo access external data, add a cross-domain policy file to the external data web server.

Creativity in the Charts can make the component look different altogether. Here is one such example.
Follow the screen shots below to achieve the different views of a simple Pie chart.

For the chart representation , suppose here the smaller one shows the Current Year and the Bigger one
shows the Previous year. The legends of this can be taken form the Character Map. The below screen shots
shows the further explanation to this, i.e. How it can be achieved.
With that said, the ellipse can be used to have a all selection as well. Just by placing a transparent push button.

Hey Guys 
When you create or open a dashboard, the component properties window is black. Once you click inside it, the black disappears and the window display is restored. Everytime you switch/select a component this happens.
Same goes for the connection window: Switching between the connections = black window. Click inside black window = black disappears, normal display.
Functionality wise it's fine, just annoying if you have to click inside the window everytime, you can accidentally change something by clicking inside it.
PC' specs:
Windows 8.1
SAP GUI 7.2
Office 2013 64bit
Office 2010 32 bit (Excel, runs fine, according to task manager it starts up the 32bit version when you launch Dashboard Design)
Dashboards Design 4.0 SP6 (did also try 4.0 SP9 and 4.1 SP6)
SAP environment:
BW 7.3 EHP1 SP5
BO 4.0 SP5

Hi all,
I have up to now used Xcelsius on NW with BICS connection towards BEx queries.
When I use this connection via Data Manager in Xcelsius, I'm able to use the Cross-table functionality to insert my entire dataset into a cell Range.
But now I have an requirement to save my Dashboards on the BO server, so I need to go through Query Browser to extract data from SAP BW to my Dashboard.
When inserting the query in the Query browser and I want to assign the data to Excel ranges, it seems like I need to do this for each individual Infoobject and Key Figure. Since I have many Key Figures (30-50), this is a lenghty process.
Is there a way to insert the entire dataset from Query into a cell range (both rows and columns), or do I need to do this for each Key Figure as indicated in the screen shot above?
--> I know that the Query Browser flattens my cross-table from the Query, but still, it should be possible to avoid to input all my Key Figures (30-50) individually to corresponding cells in my Excel part of the Dashboard.

I am using SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards 4.1 Support Pack 3, V 14.1.3.1257.
I am trying to migrate a BO 3.1 environement to Bo 4.1. Part of this is to "migrate" an existing Xcelsius Report to the new version. I am planning to save the Report to the BO 4.1 Server connecting it to BW via Bex-Queries.
I had to delete the "old" connection in the Data Manager (ctrl + m) and create a new Query via Query Browser (left panel). Everything works fine so far, i have no problem retrieving Data from BW and using them in the Report.
What is missing are the Descriptions of the InfoObjects. So far, the report only shows the key figure part of the Query. I found an option in this Data Manager (old) to interact with the description, but I was unable to test this.
Long story short: How can I force Dashboards to "plot" the InfoObject description next to the Key Figures in the spreadsheet?

My situation is the following. I have a Line chart representing sales on 3 different series(actual, budget and last year) along the 12 months. Then 3 different pie chart that link the office sales of each serie and each month. I successfully linked the drill down data, but I can't make it workout the dynamic visibility everytime you select a different serie on the line chart, because of the common issue of the insertion that doesn't clear the previous selection when you make another one. I'll attach the xlf file as a txt. Hope you can make it work.

Hi guys i have SAP BO Dashboards 4.0 SP7 and i have two queries and have the same prompt for year and month and i create two prompts for year and month inside each one i have the option to select both queries, i believe that i will refresh both queries filling that two prompts but when i execute the filter apply i only have refreshed the firsto query and not the other one.
Did you have refreshed two queries with one prompt?,or theres some other considerations for this?

I have drilling down configured on the Dashboard report. The issue is when initial loading the dashboard. the horizontal text are not showing completly, untill I click the other column of the parent column, it shows the child horizontal text.

In BEx it is possible to publish a Query to a role when ever I want to.
In Dashboard Design it seems as assigning the dashboard to a role is only possible during initialy saving it. I have not found a way of doing this afterwards (except for saving it with a new technical name again).
I also tried to assign the dashboard directly to the role in BW, but this didn't really work either. The dashboard did then not appear in the dashbaord design when searching for it.

Hello, I want to build a dashboard in which I want to have 2 combo boxes. These 2 combo box will drive the dashboard.
The first Combo Box will have Company Code Values, When user selects a value in it, then second combo box will populate the accounts relevant to that first combo box.
Then, that accounts will drive my Pie chart.
My question is how do I make the pie charts invisible first and only shown when user has selected the values?
So when dashboard comes up, User will only see 2 combo boxes and nothing else.

When trying to insert Web I report into Dashboards excel component using Live Office tab, the Live Office Insert Wizard is not coming up, after successful login. I am using Dashboards 4.1 SP3 Patch1. This issue is only when I am trying to access the Dashboards through Citrix.
However this is not an issue with the Dashboards (same version) tool installed on my machine.
I am having same issue with the Live Office component when accessing through Citrix.
Any ideas where to look at?

I'm having issues with Flash, as some people don't have the pc admin rights to update the flash player plugin. Can I export to a different file type? Guessing pdf or ppt won't work, as when it's compiled to those, it still embeds a swf.

I would like to have a dashboard that limits access.
I require a site login, then they access the dashboard. However, if I revoke their access, they could still grab the cache version of the dashboard and continue to use that.
I figured out how to just use =now() to set a restriction at a later date. But, a user can change their PC time, and still continue to use it.
Is there a template/example/demo that checks a SQL DB or something to verify if a user should be using the dashboard? Essentially, I could require a user to enter a value within the dashboard, it would then connect to the web database, and grant access?

I have created a universe UNX on top of a sql table. and i used this UNX via query browser to create a dahsboard. when i run this dashboard with "administrator" the dashboard runs but when i run with any other user it shows the below error. I have checked the connections user security and the i have given "full rights" to the user group and also the universe user security has "full rights" but still i get this error. How do i solve this issue. Couldnt find where the authorization is missing. Please help
