Multiple Query Browser connection VS Single BEX query

Hello Experts,

 

Issue : I have Multiple Query browser connections (around 36) in one dashboard which are based on 18 bex queries, all are fetching the data based on trigger.

 

BEX query design (eg)

  • Month,
  • Material (gas, oil, crude oil)
  • Total Sales Volume
  • No of units

 

Need to understand few things

 

1. What is the best option of designing dashboards.?


       Multiple Query browser connections with filters (on material ) on one bex queries (Eg. Month , Material, Total SALES vol , No. of units,

       FILTERS =GAS)

 

VS

       ONE single BEX query with multiple Key figures (Eg. Month , Material, Total SALES vol (GAS), No. of units(GAS),
       Total SALES vol (OIL), No. of units(CRUDE OIL) )

 

2. Internally how is the behaviour when we build the above connection option.

3 Does so many query browser connections hamper the performance (Trigger based connection option)

 

Tried searching SCN but didn't find anything related to it . So any suggestion and views would be most welcome

column chart display

Hi experts,

              I amusing column chart, its having 100 line of date, but when  i preview its showing all the 100 line of data, but i need scroll right to see the columns first 10 columns should display, then i have to scroll n see the data, how to achieve this

Using multiple filter controls

Hi Dashboard experts,

 

I am trying to create a dashboard where the business user wants to use multiple filters to control what they see on the dashboard. Can some one give me an example on how to use multiple filters using the same data source and can I do aggregations depending on the data selected in the filter?

Exported files no longer work

Hello. I am using Crystal Presentation Design 2011. Previously, I was able to export my work to powerpoint and view the flash file with no problem. Recently, the files are no longer working. I am able to use "Preview" within the software and the interactive features work fine there. I've tried exporting to other formats (Word, PDF) with no success.

 

I've gone into the properties of the Flash object and I see it links to a file (random letters.tmp) in my temp folder. After browsing for it, I see that the file doesn't exist. Could that be causing it? I see that the software has an option to export a .swf file but it's grayed out for me (I assume that's a feature available to other versions but not Presentation Design).

 

I've also found a log file and this line may be relevant: "Failed to find symbol 'xcelsius.config.DashboardGlobalPreference' in SWF file"

 

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Issue with alignment of Alerter in Scorecard

Hi,

 

In my Dashboard, used Scorecard components to Alert few metrics in color and their values and few metrics in only Color. The Color only alerter shows in center of the cell however Color and values align alerter left align in the cell. I don't find option to align alerters in center (same as only color alerter). Please advice if aligning alerter can be possible.

 

Technology Stack: Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP3 (5.4.2), Oralce 11g

The file size of swf, which is exported by dashboard(xcelsius).

the size of dashboard file(.xlf) is only 7KB.

But the size of  exported file (.swf) is almost 1MB.

if the SWF file is large, it is not good for user experience.

Can we have solution to control the file size is below 500KB?

BTW: I have uploaded .xlf and .swf onto SAP Box Attachment

Import xcelsius sheet in dashboard and also keep my current sheet in place

Dear Gurus:

 

Is it possible to import xcelsius sheet in dashboard and also keep my current sheets in place because what is happening now is when I import xcelsius sheet it is replacing it with my current sheets whereas I don't want to replace the sheets, I want to add the sheets.

 

I have a dashboard containing A,B,C,D,E,F sheets but there is another sheet G, which is in another dashboard, to avoid the repeatation of work I want to add G sheet along with A,B,C,D,E,F. I first export the sheet from dashboard and then importing this in another dashboard but when I import it A,B,C,D,E,F sheets lost.

 

Is there a way that I add sheets while importing instead of replacing sheets while importing.

Map Location Dymanic

Hi ,

 

               Has anyone worked on CMaps Plugin? I have four locations in my Map Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai and I am using a combo box for selecting these locations. When I select Delhi, it is highlighted and when I zoom the map to see the areas in Delhi  and next I select Chennai I am not able to see Chennai, Delhi gets grayed out and Chennai gets highlighted. I have to move manually to Chennai location on the map to see . I want to achieve this dynamically so when I select Chennai the location of Chennai should be shown automatically. I have seen in some of the CMaps plugin this has been possible.

Refreshing dashboards based on a BEx query(Request processing failed (XLS 000009))

Hi All

 

I am running an BI 4 SP5 Patch 4 and I get errors when I refresh my prompts. The error message is Request Processing Failed (XLS 000009) Termination message sent ABEND RSBOLAP (000): Program error in class. SAPMSSY1 method : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION

MSGV1: SAPMSSY1

MSGV3: UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION

 

Has anyone came across this error before?

getting " Not enough memory for the operation error " in BOE

Hi,

 

We are using BOE 11.0.

 

we try to schedule a new report with multiple database logins for testing in BOE. When we run the report we are getting error like "Not enough memory for the operation error"


The same report has been executed successfully when we run using Crystal reports developer. The report is fectching less than 10K records from all the databases together.


Please let me know which is causing the issue and also let me know is there any limit in the number of databases connecting for a single report.

Dashboards issues with latest Adobe Flash Player 14.0

Hi All,

 

I am sure some of you might have already noticed this, but for everyone using Dashboards, there are some known issues we have seen with latest Adobe Flash player 14.0.

 

Below are some of the issues you might see with upgrade to latest Flash player 14.0:

 

  • Exporting to PowerPoint:

           When you export the SWF to PPT, it would not load the swf or show up in the slide show mode. You would just see a blank white screen.

 

  • Export to PDF format:

           When you export the SWF to PDF format, the swf would not show up and would appear blank.

 

This is currently reported to Adobe internally and we are working to get  a Fix.


I would update this document as soon as we hear or get any additional update.


Please feel free to add any other issues you have noticed.


Workaround: For now, move back to previous version of Flash player.

Live Office Insert Wizard not coming up in Dashboards 4.1

Hello All,

 

When trying to insert Web I report into Dashboards excel component using Live Office tab, the Live Office Insert Wizard is not coming up, after successful login. I am using  Dashboards 4.1 SP3 Patch1. This issue is only when I am trying to access the Dashboards through Citrix.

However this is not an issue with the Dashboards (same version) tool installed on my machine.

 

I am having same issue with the Live Office component when accessing through Citrix.

Any ideas where to look at?

Online Dashboard in ppt - options available?

Hello Dashboard Experts,

I have an interactive Dashboard in Xcelcius 2008, having BW queries and web service as sources, deployed on BW Netweaver 7.0. Users access the Dashboard using the Application server portal link which accesses the xlf file directly, and on run time generates the flash swf. Users now want to display the online in PowerPoint slide deck. So they can directly present the slide deck and have the latest Dashboard output and also change the filters and see output while giving presentations.

 

Do you have any pointers on ways to embed or deploy a online Dashboard (having BW queries and web service as source) on a PowerPoint?

 

I have tried the export to pdf, but it seems that shows only the dummy data in the excel of the Dashboard designer, doesn't connect to the application server and fetch the latest data.

 

Also tried - http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-21219, but that doesn't work for me as I don't have the swf link deployed in Application server, I have the xlf object deployed on application server. Any pointers on how to deploy the swf file on Application server would be helpful in this case.

Help on Opening Local Dashboard from another Local Dashboard

Hi,

 

I have VERY limited knowledge of working with Dashboards, so excuse the simplicity of the question below.  I have created two dashboards on my local computer.  I want to be able to open the second dashboard by clicking on a button on the first dashboad.  I tried inserting a URL button on my first dashboard, and set the URL to the adress on my computer where the second dashboad is located (e.g., C:\Users\user1\Documents\SAP\Dashboards\Dashboard1.html).  However, when I actually click on the URL button on my first dashboard, I get an error message:  Cannot find 'file///C:/Users/user/Documents/SAP/Dashboards/Dashboard1.html.  I've tried both checking and unchecking the "Encode URL" box with no luck.

 

I assume there's just an error in the way I'm pointing to to the second dashboard on the URL pushbotton, but I can't figure out how to fix it.  Is it possible to open a second dashboard from an open dashboard using a pushbutton?  If so, how do you do it?  Thanks in advance.

How Many Licences Do I Need

Hi,

We're current using BOE 4.0 SP5 and have 69 licences for this. We would like to start using Dashboard Design to create some dashboards and put them on the launch pad home pages of our users. I realise I need to purchase a dashboard design licence for me to use to create the dashboards, but do I need licences for all of our users to view them?

 

Any clarity on this issure would be greatly appreciated.
