I am new to dashboards and want to understand, how do we make a web service connection to the dashboard?

 

We previously had the web services set up and never got a chance to set it up, but now there is a need to set it up in our own machines.

The issue exactly being faced right now is:

 

we tried setting up the web service config file and it works when we execute it ( i.e. I get a URL) but it comes as

http://localhost:2910/QueryService.asmx

 

which we tried using as  " http://localhost:2910/QueryService.asmx?wsdl " in the dashboard connection manager and i am able to get the methods (runSQLQuery etc).

 

When trying to see the dashboard in the bo Infoview, we get the below error:

 

To access external data, add a Cross Domain policy file  to the external data web server.

 

 

Please help me in understanding the issue and significance of all these things.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all,

In BO I have changed the external address on DNS say abc.com

Now when I try to access the dashboard internally it gives the error trying to access xyz.com which was previous external ip.

The error I get is

"

To access external data, add a cross-domain policy file to the external data web server.

Hi Experts,

We have a dashboard with one web services(Qaaws) connection, when view the dashboard on bi launch pad everything display good, but when view on the iPad, the web services can’t catch user and password of the mobile session and displayed the following error:

 

I am aware of Note 1970047"Enterprise Authentication could not log you on. Please make sure your logon information is not empty"

but is there is any solution for this issue because we don't want to hard code the user credentials?

 

 

Any suggestion to resolve these error?

The authentication type are enterprise.

 

Environment:

 

SAP Business Objects 4.1 SP3 P2

Dashboard 4.1 SP3 P2

Hello All,

 

I am getting below error while opening Dashboard Design Object (XLF/SWF) from BI Launch Pad/CMC. By doing google i came to know that we need to add crossdomain.xml to the root directory of tomcat. But i not sure how to add it. And what content it should contain. And also please let me know where to find this crossdomain.xml file.

 

ERROR:

 

To access external data, add a cross-domain policy file to the external data web server.

For more information, on the Adobe website, see the article "Cross-domain Policy File Specification".

If the problem persists, contact the file creator or your system administrator.

Hi,

 

We are using BOE 11.0.

 

we try to schedule a new report with multiple database logins for testing in BOE. When we run the report we are getting error like "Not enough memory for the operation error"

The same report has been executed successfully when we run using Crystal reports developer. The report is fectching less than 10K records from all the databases together.

Please let me know which is causing the issue and also let me know is there any limit in the number of databases connecting for a single report.

Hi All,

 

In recent times, I have seen lot of queries around Dashboards based of QAAWS/BIWS on mobile devices( i.e. iPad or Android tablets). I am writing down this document to help everyone to follow some of the best practices listed below to have seamless delivery of Dashboards for mobile devices.

 

Check the below links and confirm you have followed the general best practices for mobile devices.

 

Mobile Dashboards Best Practices

1959380 - Best Practices to create Dashboards for iPad/Tablets viewed using SAP BI Mobile Application

 

Now, some key stuff to be followed specifically for Dashboards based on QAAWS/BIWS for mobile devices:

 

• Confirm you have BI4.1 versions of Dashboards and BI platform. ( QAAWS/BIWS is supported from 4.1).
• Check the connection and mappings defined in the dashboards is correct.
• Try to make use of IP address in the Web service* URL.(*I am NOT talking about the wsdl URL)
• Do not use relative URL. It would not work on the mobile devices.
• Save the dashboards in the mobile categories.
• Configure the connection correctly on your mobile devices.

          * Many a times I have seen issues here when using domain name. Test by trying to make use of IP address.

• Test your connection and confirm it works.

 

Some additional information:

 

If you are on BI4.1 SP1/SP2 version of BI Platform and Dashboards, the QAAWS/BIWS requires the credential to be hardcoded in connection information(Data-Connection-Query as a Web Service-Input values).

This is fixed with Patch 2.5 for BI4.1 SP2 and Patch3.2 for BI4.1 SP3.

 

NOTE: The fix is only applicable for iOS devices and does not apply for Android based tablets. For Android, you would still need to hard code the credentials until further notice.

Dear Expert's,

 

I am stuck with a problem while designing my dasboard.

 

I have data in the following format.

 

Year - Quarter - Customer - Division - KF1 - KF2

2005 - Q1 - SAP - Consulting - 10 - 20

2005 - Q2 - IDE - Food - 20 - 10

2005 - Q2 - SAP - Jets - 12 - 11

2006 - Q2 - RAM - Jets - 11 - 11

 

What i wish to do, is to create radio box(for selection) to choose any Year, Quarter , Customer & Division

 

eg if the user chooses 2005 , i want to display 3 line entries

2005 - Q1 - SAP - Consulting - 10 - 20

2005 - Q2 - IDE - Food - 20 - 10

2005 - Q2 - SAP - Jets - 12 - 11

 

if the user further selects quarter - Q2 (without disturbing the selection on for year ) the result should be

2005 - Q2 - IDE - Food - 20 - 10

2005 - Q2 - SAP - Jets - 12 - 11

 

If the selection from year is removed (still maintaining the selection on quarter Q2 ) the result should show

2005 - Q2 - IDE - Food - 20 - 10

2005 - Q2 - SAP - Jets - 12 - 11

2006 - Q2 - RAM - Jets - 11 - 11

 

Simply i need to create a filer for all the fields.

The issue that i am facing with filer component is that - 1 - it returns only one desitnation row , 2 - you can only get Key values in result set

 

Issue with combo box is i cannot select multiple fields (dimensions) using it .

 

Please suggets .

Hello, I have a query regarding dashboard performance. Can I use the filter button on the dashboard in combo boxes so when user selects something in the combo box, the dashboard does not render the result set all at once but make trips back to Database? this way i think performance can be made better.

Hello,

 

If there is no data in my database for a particular month my query retrieves nothing. Accordingly I would like to insert an excel formula in the spread sheet saying something like "If cell is blank then insert next month name"

 

Is there a way of excel knowing what the next month name is (for example: what comes after APRIL)? Can I create a list of values in excel to tell it what month comes next?

 

Example:

 

APRIL - $100

MAY - $100

NOVEMBER - $100

 

I would like to insert all the months between May and November

but now i want to open it with 6.0.4.0

 

how could i achieve this. without updating dashboard setup from 6.0.4.0 to 6.0.5.0

2.two push buttons 1.day, 2. month

3.two charts 1.day, 2.month

 

when my list box filled with data, then my day wise chart should display, then when i click month push button month wise chart should display.

when i click day push button then day wise chart should display

Hi All,

 

We have a dashboard created on webi report by using Live-Office connection. And i have exported the dashboard as SWF file and stored in my local desktop. When i am trying to open this SWF file, it is showing message "Initializing......" from very long time.

 

I am facing this issue only if i selected option "Refresh before components are loaded" in Live-office data manager connections tab.

If i un select this option, i am able open my dashboard with out any issue.

 

Versions:

Xcelsius: 14.0.2.641

Live-Office: 14.0.2.682

Hi experts,

 

I'm facing a problem with SAP Business Objects Dashboards. I have a document with a Liveoffice connection and when I try to preview my dashboard, I get an error - Failed to parse XML. (LO26005) (LO 26000)

 

I've made some research and it seems that the LiveOffice version is different from the Business Objects Web Service.

I've checked the version of LiveOffice, Dashboards and Web Service and they all seem to be the same:

What am I missing here?

Hi,

 

In my Dashboard, used Scorecard components to Alert few metrics in color and their values and few metrics in only Color. The Color only alerter shows in center of the cell however Color and values align alerter left align in the cell. I don't find option to align alerters in center (same as only color alerter). Please advice if aligning alerter can be possible.

 

Technology Stack: Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP3 (5.4.2), Oralce 11g

Hi Experts,

 

We are on Dashboard 4.1 SP3 and BI 4.1 SP3.

 

This is continue of thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/3572623.

 

The dashboard have a very strange behaviour.

I have one Dashboard with 2 calendars: start date and end date

the other one: will accept these two dates, and according showing graphs.

 

The issue I have now is:

The two dates can be passed to the second dashboard, e.g. start date: 01/01/2014, end date: 20/04/2014. I have two text lables. they are showed the passed date. but the graphs or live office just accepts two months data. e.g. start 01/01/2014 - 28/02/2014.  No matter what Date ranges I gave, the second dashboard just accept the start Date till start date+2months. e.g. give dates range 01/03/2014 - 30/05/2014, second dashboard show 01/03/2014 - 30/04/2014.

 

if i changed liveOffice dates range parameters to 4 month, then the dashboard also can expands to 4 month.

 

I'm not sure why it is happening like that.
